Didn’t NU leave with hard feelings? Seems like a hard no to them in the big 12. As for the others, at least Harbaugh won’t lose to Ohio State in 2020. Harbaugh And Gundy seem to be the same kind of guys that won’t take their teams to the next step. I’ve been really impressed with Kleiman, Campbell and Reilly this offseason.

to my eye, nebraska would be a welcomed addition back to the b12. they'd have to swallow a lot of sour grapes though.

but i don't see how it happens without them leaving the b10. you can't just walk for a year and expect to be welcomed back, to say nothing for existing contract obligations.

Nebraska has reached out to potential opponents -- think 500-mile radius -- and potential opponents have reached out to Nebraska. If the Big Ten says "no-go," look for this discussion to ramp up quickly.

maybe this is more about frost's recruiting than anything else? he doesn't want cancelling the season used against nebraska football: look the cornhuskers aren't even playing this year, come to manhattan.

Even if the Big 10 plans to cancel, coaches, ADs and officials are going to keep saying they want football. They may even "delay" till the spring and then cancel in the spring. All that in an effort to keep recruits, and current players, from going to conferences that haven't said they are going to cancel (even if they might) or to keep NFL ready players from just dropping out and beginning their NFL prep training.

For an very easy example of this happening, just look at Rubley, KSU's 2021 QB commit who once word came out about Colorado HS pushing football to the spring. Rubley, who plans to enroll early in college and therefore wouldn't play spring HS FB, didn't want to miss out on playing his SR season of football so he transferred to Iowa where the delay wasn't planned.

Now imagine that scenario, but played out at colleges. The Big 10 wanted all conferences to join in unanimity, and when they didn't, they realized the potential loss of current talent, and future recruits. Other conferences may still cancel, but they are being smart and not saying they will because of the potential benefit of incoming talent.

yeah, and this shows just how little actual power the b10 has in football. with their stuttering about, the real mojo clearly rests now first with the sec and then, i'd argue, the b12. if the b12 plays this fall, nebraska is in play, maybe iowa as well. that would be truely transformational. what the p12 does really doesn't matter. they are politically so incumbered presently that i don't know how they could be a factor in anything other than losing transfers to the east. the acc will follow the sec. it's all about risk aversion at this point in time.

If the Cats or other B12 team play Nebraska, it could be as nonconference games

certainly. but it would provide a catalyst for them coming back to the b12. their play here would be most unwelcomed by other b10 members. i can't see them returning if this all came about even though today i doubt it happens.

Certainly would help with NU's travel expenses. I would enjoy watching KSU destroy them on the field.

John Kurtz
Klieman says K-State is close to finalizing the non-con game. It would be September 12th or 19th.

If this follows through, doubtful it would be NU giving the timing of it all.

I'm not at all sure that canceling the fall FB season does anything positive about protecting players' health. However, to avoid legal liability, players who play FB this fall, should sign a waiver of liability to the school, the athletic department, and the coaches and staff. Otherwise, if some player does get sick and die, or become permanently disabled in some fashion, a lawsuit could wipe out an entire university FB program.

I'd bet we can all stick a fork in a fall FB season.

If the Big 12 still plays, imagine all the players that left the state of KS for the Big 10 in the 2020 class.
2020 - Corcoran, Jackson, Thomas, Richman, Conn, Pauls

In the end, probably doesn't affect them much as they were probably not going to play a lot as freshman but their overall college career could be 1 year longer, for better or worse, now.
