New 2021 Commit - Gaven Haselhorst

Post by AJcat7755 » July 27th, 2020, 10:47 am

The WDE was seen at the recent Sharp Camp, was offered on 7/24 and has now accepted a KSU offer. KSU was his only DI offer.

He has two 2022 teammates that KSU has also offered, maybe this gets the train rolling on them.

Great pickup. The kid is fast for 230lbs and strong. A nice under the radar get, and hopefully helps with the other 2022 teammates as well.

Wow, this guy looks really good. Plays with intensity and instinct. He sheds blockers like they aren't even there and is always looking ahead at the ball carrier and reading the play is second nature. Blockers only seem to be a minor impediment to the best angle to make the play. His tenacity enables him to live in the backfield, make plays downfield, and from sideline to sideline. With his vision I can also see him playing the Mike. Expect this kid to see the field soon and be a defensive leader of the future.

This article suggests that indeed he is intended for the LB spot

That 4.5 40 is going to garner more offers and some national attention. Hope we can hold onto him 😬

Good news about COVID is players like this haven't been able to be seen by other teams in person. His 40 was hand timed at a local KS camp where not a lot of big schools outside the midwest came to watch local KS kids. Had things been opened up, and he be able to travel more to schools, or they to him, I bet he would have more offers. Any delays in HS football also limits teams ability to see tape early enough. Smart teams might be able to take advantage of these type of situations and get this under the radar kids.

Yeah I saw people on Twitter mentioning how impressive his workout was. The news is going to get out and we'll have OSU and Texas schools sniffing around. Hope it doesn't but a kid at that size with great strength and speed is going to draw attention.

Part of his speed may be attributed to him playing soccer, not football, up until 8th grade. That means he has only played football for 4 years.
