I know 2026 class recruiting is just now in full swing, but anyone else not like the fact that 3/11 of top in state guys have committed to KU? Makes my skin crawl a bit. I don't know anything about any of them, but the trend is not one we need to see any more.

Interesting because there was a bit of a Twitter beef the last few days because Ryan Wallace, the recruiting guy for GPC, (I know I know, all of the podcasters are idiots that don't know anything), but Wallace in my opinion does a good job of breaking down the recruiting angle and he puts in the work, goes to the games and the summer 7 on 7 stuff, etc. Well, I guess he made a post on GPC that he was hearing quite a few rumblings, not sure from where, that there were some issues with a number of the top 2026 kids in Kansas. It really irritated a few of the KU Twitter meatheads, so there was a Twitter spat.

I don't really know what he was referring to but generally Wallace is not a KSU homer. He was actually pretty critical of some of our portal additions, even though I disagreed with some of what he said, he isn't just a KSU homer.

I honestly think that of the top 10 kids in Kansas for 2026, the only one's KSU really wants are Premer and Dunnigan. Wallace said KSU wasn't even really recruiting the third kid that committed to KU.

It would suck if Dunnigan committed to KU, he is a stud but many say it is a long road for KU to keep him. Who knows with Premer, Lanning was in Hutch last Friday watching him play hoops, his recruitment seems wide open. I don't think we really recruited Higgins that much, not with all of the young talent we have at DE, especially getting Ross with 4 years to play.

Reading between the lines it seems KSU is not working the Kansas class fo 2026 nearly as hard as normal, but we will see.

I have no insider information at all especially on how hard we are working the 2026 KS class, no way to know except if you (or someone) was on the KSU staff. The bottom line is, we offered these kids scholly's so, they must be worthy of pursuing to some extent. And we're losing them to KU. Could be they are getting lured in by NIL. Could be they like the HC or position coach better. Could be they look at our roster and think playing early may be a long shot. Could be their girlfriend goes to KU or they hooked up with a hottie on a recruiting visit. Who knows. KU lost a TON of experience this past season. So next year is going to be interesting for them. Lots of key starters and experienced players to replace. I don't expect KU to have a good season next year. With NIL and the portal, things change year to year. i don't like losing playing rock, paper, scissors to anyone from KU let alone anything related to football. that said, I'm just not overly worried about the current guys they have as committed. Time will tell how it works out. None of them scare me.

Adding to what I posted yesterday about Wallace, in his post the other day he mentioned something to the extent of there being some parent issues with some of the 2026 kids, but didn't mention names. It sounds like that led to a phone call with James Dunnigan for an hour and a half. Wallace posted on Twitter yesterday that it was a good talk. Dunnigan then tweeted about it and one interesting statement in his tweet was "I am not a problem, but I do always have an answer." Not sure what that is all about, just kind of interesting.

I still say the only two kids in the 2026 class that KSU really wants are Premer and Dunnigan. KState didn't recruit the QB from Wichita and it sounds like they really backed off the Sims kid from Ottawa. KSU offered early but after seeing his junior year really backed off.

BOOM! George Fitzpatrick is a CAT! The former 4 Star and #1 player in Colorado is joining his Ohio State teammate Gabe Powers in Manhattan. Fitzpatrick will be going after a starting position at tackle for 2025. This is a great cap to the Winter Portal haul. #EMAWPortal25😈

It's interesting that we have brought in 3 offensive linemen via the transfer portal. It tells me some of our returning OL aren't quite there yet and these portal guys are filling in those gaps. All three of them are massive dudes.

The kids that were freshmen on last year's roster hold a lot of promise, but still may be a year away, development-wise. Maybe we will see some of them playing as backups this coming season as sophomores.

Always have to bolster the offensive & defensive lines. In K-State's gameplan controlling the line of scrimmage is paramount. Having a great O-line can also help control the ball in the run game; keeping the clock moving & keeping the opponent's offense on the sidelines.

i vividly remember klieman talking about the sheer size of texas's linemen after our loss down there. i am quite sure he does as well and is making strides in that direction with this portal outfit. and yes, there's promise in now-sophomore class as well. maybe one starter?

For anyone who follows recruiting in the state of Kansas, what is the deal with the 2026 recruiting class? KU has already received oral commits from five of the top ten rated kids in the state for the '26 class. K-State (as far as I know) has zero in-state commits. It's usually the other way around with in-state recruits. I know signing day is a long way off, but I still found it interesting, if not a little concerning. TIA.
