Projected matchup: NC State vs. Kansas State

Kansas State might have punched its ticket to Orlando after Christmas with Saturday's win over Kansas — at least that's what the latest information suggests. The Wildcats are going to inform the Big 12 this game — or the Alamo Bowl — is their preferred destination if the New Year's Six is off the table and reps from the Pop-Tarts Bowl have watched Kansas State up close this month. Kansas last played in Orlando two decades ago and was hoping to solidify an invite here with a win over Kansas State, but it didn't happen after leading 27-16 at one point in the second half.

I believe it and the Alamo bowl are the two highest bowl affiliations outside of the new years six. It was previously the Cheez-it bowl and before that the Camping World bowl. It was once upon a time the Tangerine Bowl which I still wish it was.

So it would be a decent bowl but obviously not the dream of a new years six and not a high profile opponent. But NC St plays UNC Saturday so that could all change.

I would much prefer Florida. IMO the Alamo Bowl stadium is a dump. Fun city, though.

Orlando would probably be a nice trip for the team after Christmas.

There are two bowl games in Orlando. The Cheez-it Citrus bowl that is played on New Year’s Day between teams from the sec/big. The second bowl is the cheez-it bowl, now called the Pop Tarts bowl (starting this year) and this year is played on December 28th between teams from the BIG12 and the ACC. Those games are played in a stadium now called The Camping World Stadium. Previously it’s been called several names but the names most of us would remember are the Tangerine Bowl and then the Citrus Bowl. The original bowl game now played on New Year’s Day is a long time event. The bowl game we would potentially play in is a relatively new bowl game. The game would be good exposure for us in Florida. The stadium isn’t far from the UCF campus and they played there before building their on campus stadium, known affectionately as the Bounce House.
The weather is usually good but the traffic is usually bad.

If $$ is how you rate a bowl than see link. I believe exposure is worth some $$ as well.

All the $$ from bowls will be split between all members. Another $$ figure to consider is for the fans attending. Going to cost a whole lot more to go to Orlando at that time of year than going to San Antonio.

I dont know... if I"m going to Florida in January, I want the beach. Orlando doesn't have that.

No it doesn’t. I’m not much for plastic Florida but if you like theme parks Orlando is the place to be. I’d rather be on the water or at the beach.
