Bat Cats March homestand
Not exactly a home series but we were the home team down in Ft Worth and took 2 of 3 from San Francisco. Just looking at stats the pitching was better as well as offensive production. Back home for a game against Mizzou on Tuesday but it will be cold. Go Cats!

It's just as well with the bitter cold weather. Good job, 'Cats!catfan1952 wrote: ↑March 3rd, 2019, 8:54 pmNot exactly a home series but we were the home team down in Ft Worth and took 2 of 3 from San Francisco. The guys dropped 2 of 3 to Old Diminion over the weekend. Not a lot of offense. The one win was mainly due to freshman Jordan Wicks who is now 2-0 with an ERA of 1.17 Unable to make any games this weekend but next weekend the weather looks better. A couple mid week games will be threatened with rain. Go Cats!
This new coach needs to get his act together. Two injuries to new pitchers this weekend alone. One being the Friday night guy who is now out for who knows how long. Hughes is sending pitchers out there in the first 3rd of the season in cold weather many times and allowing them to throw nearly 100 pitches, Wickes the new good looking lefty had a game last week with only 4 innings, but 97 pitches. That is too many this early but Hughes is doing it with all the starters. Just seems crazy.
Also needs to let some of the bench play some. Some guys are hitting woefully right now but still getting the starts and the AB's. Try some of the other guys. Go cats.

Hughes has no issues playing his son (who barely left the bench at OU). Through the first couple weeks, his son is hitting .216 with the worst OPS (.601) among all the starters. Just what you're looking for in a leadoff hitter. After a few more games, he'll have more ABs at K-State than his entire career at OU (63 ABs, .206 avg.).kstatefan wrote: ↑March 11th, 2019, 11:34 amThis new coach needs to get his act together. Cats win a pair of mid week games from Northern Illinois 9-6 and 8-3. Offense came alive and both were come from behind wins. We got pretty lucky with the weather both days but super windy today. Looks like a nice weekend coming up. Go Cats!

Cats took 2 of 3 from UTRGV this past weekend and the one they lost was a real hose job.
Tied in the 7th, KSU was batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. The batter bunted to the 3rd base side but got it up in the air. The 3rd baseman charged the ball but it hit the ground first and as he fired to first, our runner beat it out. So bases loaded no one out right? Nope. The umpire called it a catch by the 3rd baseman. UTRGV then threw to 2nd and it was called a triple play. So essentially the umpires just completely took away one half inning from us. We lost by 1.
The coach went to argue and have them review, as it was clear on video he didn’t catch it, but apparently the rules state you can only challenge if it’s not called out in the infield. You can’t challenge a called out.
So look for another KSU rule. The being bumped all the way down to the Alamo bowl when we lost in the big 12 championship to the endzone salute. We have to get screwed over for a rule or rule change.

That was the most blatant mistake I have seen umpires make in over 60 years of watching baseball. Those umpires should be suspended and/or banned.....not just the home plate umpire, but all of them.bhoovy wrote: ↑March 18th, 2019, 6:58 pmCats took 2 of 3 from UTRGV this past weekend and the one they lost was a real hose job.

Coach Hughes was very upset about the call of course but in the interview he sounded like he agreed that was the rule on the video call. If so that is truly screwed up and hard to believe.

Cats dodged a little rain and split with Canisius mid week and have a 11-10 record after a mediocre 10 game homestand. Headed to Stillwater to open B12 play Friday. Cowboys haven't been exactly tearing it up either but these games will tell us a lot about this team. Go Cats!
