2019 Kansas State Volleyball
time to start a 2019 thread.
Kstate sending setter Teana Adams-Kaonohi, outside hitter Brynn Carlson, outside hitter Anna Dixon, setter Sarah Dixon, middle blocker Faith Hammontree, defensive specialist/libero Loren Hinkle and opposite Gloria Mutiri to the USA collegiate vball tryouts.

Good to get them some more experience and have them get better. I think Mutiri, S.Dixon, Carlson went previously (Carlson her freshman year).
Did anyone go to the scrimmage thing last week? any thoughts?

Suzie has missed NCAAs three of the last six years and hasn't won as many as 10 games in the Big 12 in 10 years (never finished higher than 4th in that stretch). She's 8-24 in Big 12 matches the last two years.
There was a pretty sizable roster turnover - hopefully she can turn this thing around.

4 ksu players got selected for one of the USA CNT https://www.kstatesports.com/news/2019/ ... oster.aspx. A. Dixon (OH), B. Carlson (OH), T. Adams-Kaonohi (S), and G. Mutiri(opp) got selected. Good playing time for them.
KSU 2019 class ranked 20th https://www.kstatesports.com/news/2019/ ... no-20.aspx
KSU picked up Libero Dru Kuck in later Feb. She was originally committed to the Badgers. Lets hope this class gets KSU moving back up to the top half of the big12 in a couple years. It also looks like Elle Sandbothe isn't on the roster anymore as of mid last week. The press release on the 22nd doesn't mention here in the returning starters/seniors, so it looks like she might be done. Her departure leaves a bit of a hole in the MB. The team plays in Brazil as well for 1 week.
Best Guess line up.
S - Dixon
MB1- Williams
MB2- ??
OH1- A Dixon
OH2- Heyne
L- Kuck
Opp= Mutiri

couple of updates.
Anna Dixon made the junior national usa team playing this weekend (https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Volleyball/ ... ster-Named). They lost to Italy and beat Mexico. In the Italy match it shows Dixon subbed in but got no attack attempts. it looks like Anna didn't start in the Mexico match either and got 5 kills on 8 attempts. No block in either game. Next up is Cuba today.
The 3 other players finished practice with team USA ( https://www.kstatesports.com/news/2019/ ... aheim.aspx )
Also if you didn't know, USA women won the NVL in China with a 3-2 over Brazil in the final. Congrats to them. The USA men made it to the finals as well. you can generally find these on youtube after the fact.

I believe practices probably started last week. I know absolutely nothing about this team and the upcoming season. Hopeful some of you know a little to share.
If I remember right, some players got some off-season experiences with select teams. Any updates on that?
Are newcomers filling the big holes left? Hoping the new blood brings freshness and some more positive results. Weren't a few of our recruits highly regarded?

There are alot of young players and girls that have redshirted so I don't know what to expect from those that redshirted. Freshmen Dru Kuck and Loren Hinkle will probably get a lot of playing time as libero and DS. They need to improve in the back row the most. So hopefully they will bring a lot of energy. The front row should be pretty good- Sarah Dixon is a R-Senior setter. Mutiri on the right side and Anna Dixon and Heyne on the left. Peyton Williams will probably start in the middle, not sure who the other middle will be since Sandbothe transferred. Probably Abby Archibong or Megan Vernon.

Purely from a talent standpoint, this is Suzie's best team in a while. But, it's also very young and inexperienced at the NCAA level. We'll see what happens...
