ksu won in 3 against WVU. watched on ESPN3. Zumach didn't play at all. Passing in the 3rd game was very shaky.

Don't know the finer points of volleyball just my observation from attending the match against Baylor last Saturday. We got there at the end of the first period which Baylor won. 2nd period, looked much better early, I think took a 4 pt lead. Baylor played well but K-State looked totally unorganized and made many unforced errors. 3rd period was an ass-klcking. My opinion is that was not a good match for the team.

25-18,25-17, 25-11. The last game was a beat down for sure. ugh. i can imagine the passing/defense was just extremely poor to get throttled like that. I don't even want to watch the replay:(. On a plus side, KSU put 11 on the academic all big 12 first team. KSU will probably make the other post season tournament.

KSU had 4 NLI for this years class. I went off and predicted the roster w/o any additions other than the 4 new players. KSU lost 6 due to graduation. predicted starters are in bold. interesting there wasn't addition of another L/DS. our passing isn't so wonderful. the MB1 and MB2 are probably locked up as our the Opp and the Setter. I would guess that heyne is one of the OHs. DS and L are open as well as 1 of the OHs. They could try the 6-2 again and open up another Opp,

Year Name pos height
Fr Faith Hammontree MB 6-5
Fr Loren Hinkle L/S 5-10
Fr Teana Adams-Kaonohi S 6-1
FR Anna Dixon OH 6-2
Sr Elle Sandbothe MB 6-0
RS-SR Sarah Dixon S 5-9
RS So Jacque Smith DS/L 5-7
So Kayley Hollywood MB 6-5
So Kenzie Smith S 5-9
RS-So Brooke Heyne OH 5-11
RS-JR Peyton Williams MB 6-4
RS-SO Megan Vernon MB 6-2
Jr Brynn Carlson OH 6-4
So Gloria Mutiri Opp 6-2
Sr Mckenzi Weber DS/l 5-7
SO Holly Bonde OH/Opp 6-2
So Abigail Archibong OH/Mb 6-1

Cats just rallied from down 0-2 and beat the hawks 3-2. That makes a season sweep over ku!! Down season over-all but this sweep makes it a little bit better. Mutiri, Sandbothe, and Heyne all had double figure kills and will return next year along with the setter.

looks like Zumach had a good night a bunch of down nights (.394). looks like she came off the bench later in the 2nd set. interesting enough KSU has a slim change to make the tournament based on RPI rankings (was at 52 before the KU game). win the next two and they amazingly probably make it. don't know if that happens, but there is a chance. The team is just all over the place in terms of performance. good win against a good KU team.

A replay of the ku match started a few minutes ago on Cox 22 in Wichita for anyone interested in watching.

I don't really get how we could expect to get in the NCAA tournament with the record we have.

As of this ranking on Nov. 11, we were #52. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/volleybal ... eyball-rpi

I get that was before a great win at KU. But still, are we looking at the JV tournament that I know nothing about?

i was surprised as well that they are considered on the bracketology on volleyballtalk.org. they generically are pretty good with the picks. KSU is listed as "last 4" in on monday. they had an ok out of conf schedule so they get some benefit. I think they need to beat both TCU and TTech for a realistic shot. I still though they needed to beat OU and ISU as well. Maybe not. KSU is so all over the place. they have the offensive talent, but lack almost any consistency.

ksu lost to tech in 4 at home. passing just wasn't good. the ref was really calling the double contacts on the setters. more than I have seen in a while. It was consistent though for both sides which is what you want to see. sandbothe/zumach struggled, but the sets were not consistent (likely a function of passing). heyne and williams did ok. despite not playing well KSU had it chances. KSU had two swings for gamepoint in the 3rd, but could not put it away :(. This loss should likely end the hopes of a ncaa bid. ksu will get a bid to the 2nd tier tourney if they want to go. too bad the seniors couldn't win on senior day. all of them made it into the match except flowers.
