Yeah it’s pretty sad. UCSB was 2-8 coming in and we get swept by them at home. Such high expectations for this team coming in and it’s looking like they’ll be one of the bottom 2–3 in the conference right now. Post season is completely off the board without totally turning it around in conference play and there’s nothing to give any sign things will change.

We just don't have a very good setter. Same issue last year. Until we get someone who can put up great sets instead of just passes in the vicinity, we will struggle.
Also, we are sorely missing morris's digs. She kept a lot of rallies alive and saved a lot of points against for us.

Swept in 3 against OU. Clinton continued to hit well, so seems like she is coming back. Not sure what is going on with the others. MB were non existent, but probably result of the passing as well. They went with Jones at MB again and she got a total attempt of 1. Yikes. we are just not good as mentioned prev.
I would agree with the comment above that we are missing Morris on D, but I think our serve reception is just not good at all and leads to everything else going to toilet (our OH still tend to struggle to terminate even on a good set). I will trying to get someone of volleyballtalk to dig up the data on this. I image it show we suck.

I know nuthin' about volleyball, but, perhaps our new coach has not had time to recruit "his team" yet. I hope that's the case because it sure isn't poor facilities.
Coach will get enough time to get his own recruits into the program. Something like 4-5 years unless the program bottoms out and doesn't start improving (seems very unlikely). Really his first class was this years freshman as last year was a very late start form him (Fritz had a small class and mansfield pick up Schnieder and Fox).

Finally back on the winning side with a three game sweep. First two were very close followed by a decisive win in the third set.
Some improvements this game. Couple changes the staff made against UCF. Carter played only the front row to likely avoid passing duty that have been very inconsistent. Gregorski took over the duty of 6 rotation OH. She played well. Lot less tip and putting balls away. Team is getting more block touches starting with the Houston game and getting to a lot more balls on defense. They gave up a 5-6 pt lead in the first game and it looked like they might lose again. Next up is @texas tech which is a game that we should win. If the team wants to get in the tourney, likely we need to finish 15-12 (another 3 losses) which would likely put us ~ 3rd in the big12. Tough sledding even for a team that was had it together.
Now RPI Futures ranked of 119 with predicted record 10-17 Realistic prediction unless we start playing better.
back at it today @ texas tech and sat against Iowa State.

Double Yikes. we lose in 4 to Ttech. As an overall team, very very poor in almost every category. Ttech not a good team , but we are worse. We almost look like a team that just quit I was hoping the team could figure it out and had some hope with the last two, but this one was bad.

Yeah finally watched my first match to see exactly what we look like and it’s just really bad. Hard to believe this is for the most part the same team that got jobbed out of a NCAA tournament bid last year. It would be easier to say what we’re good at because it ain’t much. It’s really hard to believe this is an NCAA D1 P4 volleyball team. Our serve receive is just terrible and you can’t get into any offense without a pass to start it off. But we’re a bad passing team in free ball scrabbles. But even when the pass is there, which is very rare, the setting also leaves a lot to be desired. Liz is one of the few bright spots. She seems to be one of the few who has elevated her game and some of it may have to do with her finally being healthy. Even Carter doesn’t look as good as last year but what I seen tonight may be because she feels defeated after making a big decision to come back for her extra year and now having to endure this. But this was some bad volleyball on both sides. Bad passing, lots of free balls back and forth. Many of the points scored wasn’t from a true kill where someone just pounds it down or tools the block. Will likely be the last match I watch this year. Just a sad sad product the Cats are putting on the floor.
