Cats defeat Houston 5-3. Big road victory. Trailed 3-0 and another comeback win. Neighbors pitched a scoreless inning and Wentworth continued his unbelievable stretch with another three scoreless innings to close it out.

Yes that was a big win. Down 3 going to the 6th and Houston’s ace who has a 1.33 era so far this year was in control. But the Cats finally got to him in the 6th and put up 4. Wintroub with the start gave up a 2 run homer in the first and a solo in the 3rd but hung in to go 4-1/3. Bullpen was solid. Wisenbaker with a 2/3 of an inning, Neighbors pitched the 6th. Wentworth got the last 3 and was nails again. He’s having a year like Neighbors did last year.

Brady Day with 2 big hits and the Frosh English continues to hit the ball with two more tonight also. He’s got to be early season frosh of the year. He reminds me of Goodwin as a frosh but he’s been even better.

Go get a W tomorrow and win a road series. Game time 6:30.

Other than an error, Wentworth has pitched the equivalent of a perfect game in his last three outings with nine innings, no hits, no walks, no runs!!

Cats pull out the win 6-5 to take the series.

Cats went up 2-0 in the first. Frost was totally in control until he wasn’t. In the 5th, with not allowing a hit yet, he walked the bases loaded. Then gave up his first hit to tie the game. Buss came in and allowed two more, but both awarded to Frost to trail 4-2. Slack came in and gave up another in the 6th to go down 5-2.

In the 8th the Cats put up 4 with some crazy events. With 2 on Rivera got a hit to score one and on a bad throw the runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd. Pelletier then struck out but the ball was dropped and the throw down went into right field. On a ground ball to ss Pelletier ran for some reason and was out. Lodice got a hit followed by another by Ingram and the Cats took a 6-5 lead.

Some bad base running by the Cats took them out of scoring opportunities that could have put the game away sooner but in spite of that got the job done.

Ingram and Jones each with two hits.

Dean came in for the final 2-1/3. Was solid in the 8th. Walked the lead off in the 9th, but struck 2 of the next 3 and got the other to fly out. Very nice outing. Nice comeback win……..again.

Go for the sweep tomorrow and have won 8 in a row and look to extend to 9.

How about these BatCats!! Did a number of things wrong, down three runs late, using all of the bullpen other than Wentworth and Neighbors and still pull out a 6-5 win.

Cats get the sweep on the road winning the finale 9-3.

Boerema got the start and gave up a first inning homer to fall behind 1. Cats got 2 in the 3rd to go up 2-1. Houston tied it in the 5th. Cats got 2 in the 7 to go back on top 4-2 and then got 5 in the 8th for to go up 9-2. Houston got one on the 9th for the 9-3 final.

Brady Day had a day going 5-6. Rivera, Ingram and Parsons all with 2 hits.

Boerema went 5 innings and gave up 2 runs on 3 hit, only 1 earned. Struck out 5 and walked 4. Neighbors got 2 innings with 2 K’s and a walk. Then Wentworth came in for the final two and gave up 2 hits and 1 run striking out 2.

That’s 9 straight and a 5-1 conference start. I do think it’s been against the weaker teams but they’ve done what they need to against them.

Now a midweek in Manhattan against the huskers. Then at home for the conference weekend series with the horns. Big big series.

Big series this weekend against Texas. They will be a good measuring stick for where we are currently.
