Re: 2023 KSU Volleyball
The Lipscomb loss is certainly a black eye. The OU loss is but became even worse with how they lost it. The Cincinnati loss at home also hurts. They really needed to take both from TCU. Change just those 4 and with the ranked wins they may also be in the rankings conversation.
With that said, they’re in 5/6 place of a conference that has 5/6 ranked teams. If they can at least split with ku and sweep Tech and then beat Houston, I would think they’ll at least be in that conversation. Get another win against BYU or take down Texas and now you’re really building a resume.
But they at least have started to look like a team that we can talk post season about. A few weeks back they didn’t look close to a tournament team.

Back to back sweeps over #8!! Sets were closer tonight but that would be expected. Carter and Clinton combine for 33 kills. We had two more service aces and two fewer service errors which helped make the difference.

Seen the 3-0 show up on my phone and thought it was last nights match. That’s an impressive sweep. And Carter and Clinton are really on fire.
I know you always want to beat ku, but it even means more now. If they just get a split I think the cats are in the tournament conversations. But they get a sweep and they may be locking down a spot, if they just take care of business with the others they really should win.

Some of the serve reception bugs popped up again tonight, but they were able to overcome. So much better than early in the year.
Still think they need 2x vs ttech and one more game gets them in for sure. Still possible the BYU wins could boost the RPI enough that 2x vs Ttech is enough

Seem like the Bracketology on volleyball talk board has us in the tournament now . Last 6 teams in so certainly still on the bubble,. too early to get excited as still some wins needed, but moving in the right direction.

I watched the replay of the first sweep of BYU and wow that was fun and Carter and Clinton were beasts, especially Carter. She can fly.
Carter and Clinton got Offensive Player of the week and rookie of the week respectively for their play against BYU last weekend.
Big weekend for volleyball with 2 matches @ #14 KU tonight and Sat. Playing well enough to at least split which would be a good result for post season hopes. KU will likely go after Carter and Clinton in serve receive. If they pass ok and we don't have too many service error compared to aces then I like our chances. Last win vs KU was in 2020.

Big match for sure and yes I think to get a split would be considered a successful weekend. They’ve played well lately but unfortunately dropped some matches they shouldn’t earlier and now there’s not a lot left to make up, so every one is huge.

Just flat garbage volleyball. Down 12-13 and get outscored 12-3 to lose game one. Then up 21-15 and get outscored 10-2 to lose game two. Just garbage volleyball. Wasn’t anything ku did that was all that great but make a pass so they could run offense. KSU passing in those lulls was just jr high bad. Maybe they turn it on and come back down two but extremely doubtful so I’m done for tonight. Not wasting anymore time. Will possibly see what they bring tomorrow but tonight was really bad.
