Cats baseball listed as a team to watch
Just some information I saw on twitter, Baseball America released an article titled "10 Under-The-Radar College Baseball Teams to Watch in 2021" and the Cats were listed as one of those 10. Pretty cool to see them get some national love in the preseason. Obviously Wicks, Seymour and McCollough will give them a chance every time they climb the bump, hopefully the Cats can push for a regional berth. Obviously always tough in the Big 12.

Cats are picked to finish 7th in the conference preseason poll.
Jordan Wicks was named conference preseason pitcher of the year. After 3 starts last year he had a 0.32 era. He’s the only wildcat to make the preseason all conference team.
They start in Surprise AZ this weekend and have their home opener the following weekend. Lots of excitement around the batcats this season. Hopefully they’ll be the program to give cat fans something to boast about for the 2020-21 year.

I absolutely loathed the Pete Hughes hire. But, to his credit, he's assembled what should be a pretty solid team this year that returns virtually everyone from last year. Barring injuries, covid issues, etc., my expectations are for this team to finish middle of the pack in a very tough league and return to NCAAs for the first time since 2013 (quite ironic that we open the season against Oregon St.). We'll see what happens...
Regardless of what does happen, we should all enjoy the best K-State pitcher since A.J. Morris because this will likely be the last year we'll see Wicks in purple.

I keep saying I will make the effort to attend at least a few baseball games every year. This year I'm going to make an extra effort if the CV danger keeps lessening. Want to see the team and the new look at the baseball stadium.

The Wildcats finished the pandemic-shortened 2020 season with a 10-7 record, winning seven of their final nine games. Twenty-seven letterwinners return for 2021, including all nine position players and four starting pitchers headlined by Big 12 Preseason Co-Pitcher of the Year Jordan Wicks. k-statesports

Cats win 3-2... gem from Jordan Wicks (7 ip, 10 SO, 0 ER). Bullpen almost blew it with a two-run HR in the bottom of the eighth, but they hung on to win. This isn't the same Oregon State that won the college world series in 2018, but Wicks beat their starting pitcher who through a shutout in that CWS clinching win.
Good start to the year...
