2025 baseball
The 2025 season is a month away from this Tuesday. The Cats play their first 11 games on the road and it’s quite the schedule. Washington, Coastal Carolina x2, Michigan, LSU, TCU, Arkansas, North Carolina. Nebraska, Creighton. They just go .500 in those games and they’ll be sitting pretty good.
With the way the men’s basketball season has gone I’m getting a little anxious for this years baseball season.
If anyone hears of any podcasts with them talking about this years baseball team, giving some insight into the newcomers and the projected starters, please share.

And this is another reason why the northern schools are at such a disadvantage. It's hard enough that most of the top HS baseball programs are in the south and on the west coast, but when you have to play your first 11 games on the road, that's a huge advantage for the warmer weather schools.bhoovy wrote: ↑January 11th, 2025, 11:00 pmThe 2025 season is a month away from this Tuesday. I like the idea that was brought up in starting baseball season around April 1 (or even in mid-March) and continuing it through the summer, until around the 4th of July.

To be fair, at least half of those first 11 games out on the road are like tournament format. They bring in 3 other teams and do a round robin play. Or they bring 2 other teams and play each other twice. Some of these are true neutral sites for all teams and some there is a “home team” but still not like you’re going there to play a 3 game set against just them. You have a game against a couple other teams that are also away from home.
I understand the disadvantage it is for the northern programs, but just not sure it’s all that realistic to start too much later as it’s already the end of June when you get to the CWS. School has been out for a good month.

Lineup could look something like this:
Bishop 1B
Inoue 2B
Martin SS
Kennedy 3B
English RF
Karl CF
O’Connor LF
Madliak C
DH options: Dardar, Lodice, Flores, Evasco
Starting rotation: Liggett, Ruhl, Quevedo, Frost
Hopefully pitching is decent. Had to replace quite a bit.

Thanks. Not really familiar with the new guys. By that the entire infield would be new except for Bishop. Of course you’re replacing two top of the lineup hitters and defenders at SS and 2nd and two very good player in Culpepper and Day. What do you know about the middle infielders? I assume they are transfers? And you think the new guy Madliak will start over Phillips? Also I believe Dee, the transfer from Texas actually began last season as their starter at 2nd. I heard his had good fielding skills but his bat caused him to lose his starting position.sfs20 wrote: ↑January 12th, 2025, 8:33 pmLineup could look something like this:

I thought I had heard that Owen might still be able to return one more year if he desired. Not sure if he signed a MLB contract or just decided to call it a career? Not an overpowering pitcher but good control and mix.
I’m going off who started in the fall. The second baseman Inoue is from Japan and transferred from a Juco in Nebraska. I don’t know much on him fielding wise but he should be a spark offensively. Martin (SS) started out at Rutgers and was picked as preseason Big 10 freshman of the year but didn’t really work out so he transferred to Georgia State. Then went into the portal this offseason and was going to Arkansas but landed here. Not sure on Boerema. I do think Madliak will start. He did in the fall.bhoovy wrote: ↑January 13th, 2025, 11:40 amThanks. Not really familiar with the new guys. By that the entire infield would be new except for Bishop. They’ve both been very good programs, Utah not so much and of course Colorado has no baseball program.
