Re: Bailouts

Pretty narrow thinking, CK. Question: Does a pandemic start with the first diagnosed case or after it is well started? I admit, based on the outcomes of other relatively recent global health scares that went away rather quickly, I didn't think the CV crisis would reach the point it is at. And, descr...

Re: Thank you Board owners. This board is refuge from the maddening chaos in the world. An escape from isolationism

I enjoy this board because it keeps my old, decrepit mind busy trying to find the words to convince others to my way of thinking about life in general and the economy in particular. All the sports is just for entertainment. I admit, sometimes it's frustrating, but then I remember, this is America --...

Re: Mother Nature is in charge

Funny. Wild game feeds are great. I've eaten rattlesnake, snapping turtle, beaver tail, possum, raccoon, freshwater clams, crawdads, and mountain oysters from a variety of sources, but not coyote. ')

Re: Stock Market Performance by President

I've two family members with careers in the oil/gas industry. Both are now working at home with their laptops. I've a friend whose son-in-law is a pilot for United. That airline is offering its pilots a guaranteed 50 hour flying time salary if they will agree to just stay home. Normal flight hours i...

I love sports, but I hold education in much higher esteem.

I'm all for more funding for education if the education is STEM related, and not social sciences and liberal arts. KSU is an applied science university first and foremost.

After his 1 1/2 years in college, he'll most likely shack up with his gal friend and live the life of leisure on her salary and gov't payments to take care of a couple of illegitimate kids. ;)

Re: Bailouts

Nealy, aren't we Taxed Enough Already?

As I recall, that was the original bumper sticker of the TEA party and taxes were it's main theme -- every kind of tax -- from federal, to property, to sales, to dog, etc.

Re: Bailouts

I did not say I would enjoy a global debt wipeout, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. I didn't think a microscopic germ could trigger a global epidemic either. And, I'm not enjoying living through our current situation. Would you agree, CK, that global free trade has made the CV pandemic worse?

Re: Unscrupulous greed hogs, hysterical hoarders, and screw you partying millennials. Making bad worse. Shame on you

I'm with you, CK, pretty much sheltering in place. Reading a long book -- the memoir of U.S. Grant. Pretty interesting. Also, play cards every other day with my shut-in neighbor, a great guy and fishing buddy slowly dying of pulmonary fibrosis. Back in my college days, I was about as irresponsible a...

I think he was a good representation of the thousands of young folks down in Florida partying on the beaches. Yep!

Young folks as a whole. Probably not.
