Anything to enjoy around Tyler, Texas

Post by ToledoCat#2 » August 11th, 2018, 2:27 pm

Going on a biz/pleasure trip to Tyler, Texas, next week. Will travel south through Okie land on the backroads.

Any suggestions as to interesting places to visit in Little Dixie, OK, or in northeast Texas will be appreciated.

According to Mary Knapp, expect quite a bit of rain on your trip.

If it ain't a flood, I'd enjoy seeing a little rain for a change. Yah, I know it will be hot and muggy. But, gotta go anyway.

The piney woods. Tyler is also the rose capital of the world.

That's all I know. Now if you go on Thursday thru Sunday before the First Monday of the month Canton, Texas holds their Trade Days (Google Canton Trade Days, Canton TX).

It is hundreds of acres of crafts, tools, animals, massages, crap, neat stuff, odds and ends, junk, expensive stuff and foot long brats and turkey legs. It is huge and if you like to poke around and watch people this is a good place to go.

It is pretty close to Tyler on I-20 heading East. 60 miles from Dallas heading West.

One little factoid about Tyler Tx. is that it's the home town of Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes.

Back from our trip to Tyler, TX. Found the famous rose garden and toured the Rose Festival Museum. If you have daughters and g-daughters, they'd enjoy that museum just for the fancy gown the rose festival queens wore.

Also, drove thru Canton and I can see that the whole city has hooked onto the trade days theme. It has to be huge!!!

Also, recommend the Sunrise Diner in Paris, TX. Good breakfast and loved this sign: Mind your own biscuits and God will provide the gravy!

Ha! That's a good one. Someone there has a sense of humor.
