TCU Game

Post by ajcksu82 » October 22nd, 2018, 11:55 am

Seems to have gotten a bit more winnable:

Shawn Robinson, their QB, is done for the season and will have season ending surgery. Sophomore Michael Collins will take over. He came into the OU game and was 7 for 17 for 142 yards, 2 TDs and an INT. Had only played in 3 other games and attempted 14 passes in his career.

KaVontae Turpin, who is their 2nd leading WR with 410 yards and 3 TD and their speedy returner, has been suspended after getting arrested over the weekend. May not play in 2 weeks.

KaVontea Turpin will be a big loss for them if he is not back for the Kansas State game.

Apparently this is Turpin's 2nd strike. Supposedly he still has an unresolved case in New Mexico from March for the same kind of thing. Pretty dumb for a senior with 5 games left that has NFL aspirations to lose control of his emotions like this. If I was Patterson i think I'd just drop him especially if this N.M. thing is a surprise to him.

Turpin isn't a big loss for TCU since he's only 5'9" 160 lbs, clearly he lacks talent because he's not the prototypical 6'4", 220 lb WR. Seriously, how hard is it to replace a 5'9" 160 lb WR? Signed, multiple posters on this site....(not going to call them out individually)

I would say his impact on the return game will be missed more then his impact as a receiver. He had a 99 yard kickoff return TD vs OU and has returned 1 punt for a TD every year in college.

He is a burner WR that stretches the field, which is good to have when you have a QB and O-Line that can go for the long pass if he gets open. Watching TCU when they were healthy, they went for the big strike several times in games. Not as much of a help if the passing is shorter passes or if he is trying to be used as a possession receiver.

Except Turpin is way faster than any of KStates wide receivers. You can make up for size if you can get separation with your speed. There you go, I bit.

How big is Tyreek Hill? If you have speed size doesn’t matter.

I would love to know what Isaiah Harris runs the 40 in, he looks quick as F in my opinion. Zuber is very fast and has no issues getting open =, against anyone. For that matter, we have a 6-4" WR on the bench 99% of the snaps. Anyway, the whole point of this is for those you who constantly bitch and bitch, and bitch about nothing but "lacking talent" it gets really old from my perspective. Could we be better at it? Yes. Could we be worse? Yes. Will anything change? Not until Snyder leaves and then it may change for the worse or for the better. Everyone is certainly welcome to their own opinions and yes this is a message board where everyone gets to freely express theirs. I just wish there is more to the discussion than "lacks talent". Ok, rant over. Sorry, had to. Yes I feel better now. :D
